Superman/Batman #53
I just got done reading the first issue of this new story arc, and what a promising series. It’s all about Batman acquiring Superman’s powers by accident when they fight Silver Banshee just after she steal a silver symbol from a museum in where Bruce’s armor collections is being exposed after Alfred gently donated them to the museum, and Silver Banshee starts to experience more strength and new abilities. Superman tries to stop her but gets a little hurt after she launches her super-scream against him and he’s not able to fight back because the impact gets him unconscious for a few minutes. In the meantime Batman makes his triumphal appearance but the triumph goes away really quickly after Banshee’s scream brakes a lot of glasses and little pieces of the armors being exposed and hit Batman sending him to Alfred’s surgery table.
Back in the Bat-cave Superman experiences difficulties to use his x-ray vision and when Alfred turns to Superman to see if he was alright Bruce wakes up with no sign of the pieces of glass and metal. Superman returns to Metropolis to keep searching for Banshee and a woman she kidnapped until he loses his powers definitely. Batman, back to his job, teams up with Robin to search for clues to find out the purpose of Banshee with the silver symbol she stole, that silver symbol is like an emblem. So here is where I can’t tell you the end of this issue.
Now the art is not the best but it’s combined with a perfect tone for every single color, OMG! The colors used in this issue are epic, bright colors, dark tones of blue combined with bright reds and greens. The effect in Batman’s cape looks like a very good PS3 game, something like GTA IV. That’s probably the most remarkable thing about this book; however the story and the plot are amazing so far. But what makes me mad is the art in Superman’s and Batman’s faces. I mean, come’ on they look like serial killers. Superman looks like if he just got done doing drugs and Batman looks drunk.
Anyways, this book’s amazing and very well done, it combines the bright and dark colors in a very attractive way and the storyline seems that is going to be like pretty comfortable to read and I can tell you that you are gonna love it, maybe not as much as I do, but you’ll enjoy it a lot. I also recommend you to wait until October 15 to check out Batman and Superman vs. Vampires and Werewolves.
